Victorian Powerhouse: Industrial Wales and its Architectural Legacy: An Online Talk by Peter Wakelin

This talk will look at the architectural expression of Victorian industry and commerce at a time when Wales was an economic superpower exporting coal, slate and metals across the world. Dr Peter Wakelin was formerly Secretary of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales.

Gwrych Castle visit

Time: 11 am - 1 pm

Gwrych Castle is an impressive mock-castle overlooking the Irish Sea in Conwy. It was built between 1810 and 1825 to designs by architect Charles Busby, followed by Thomas Rickman, with later work by Henry Kennedy and GE Street and further work in the 20th century by Detmar Blow.

Starting at 11am, come and enjoy a guided walk around Gwrych Castle and meet the Victorian Society's Welsh group.
